Just some things I heard them say
When we celebrated MLK Tuesday
Acceptance, tolerance and happiness too
All things they dream of, I know I do
The crafts this week were based on him
A man who changed the nation we are in
We moved on quick to finish up The Mitten
The only animal missing was a furry little kitten
The kiddos made mittens and stuffed every nook
With all the animals they read about in their latest book
We had beautiful weather, the sunshine did glow
And we enjoyed the weather by... playing in more snow?
We love that fluffy stuff, and this time it was blue!
But no more snow for us, it is over it is through.
Our 100th day is coming and a celebration lunch!
We will prepare our 100th soup, on which the kids can munch
Black history month will start as well we have so much to do
Before the pinks and reds and white come fluterring to a class near you
Valentine's approaching and the crafts are sure to be
Some of the coolest that we've done thus far, just wait, you will see
We better check some pictures out before I leak it all
I can not wait for you to see, these kids, they have a ball!

The Video of the week: THE MITTEN!
Parent Question:
"Can you learn sign to help my child communicate?"
Wowza. This is a loaded question. While I agree that every child should be able to communicate and while I want to do everything in my power to be able to help them achieve this, I can not be fully trained in every form of communication. I DO however, know quite a bit of sign language and do everything I can to help a child communicate to the best of his/her ability. If I feel that a sign will benefit a child, I am sure to look it up and use it appropriately to suite that child's needs. As far as whether or not I can become fluent, that is something I do not currently have the time or means to do. I am currently in the process of getting my masters in Autism and my plate is pretty full. Will I someday seek out and learn as much sign as I can? Of course! I love to learn, and gather any and all new teaching techniques. Thank you for your questions!!!! I love input, feel free to comment :)
Class Challenge of the Week
Locked Doors. As part of the new safety measures, all doors are locked at all times. It has been a challenge to make sure the children are not opening the doors for adults, and it is also a challenge to get up and down from teaching to open the doors constantly. We have 4 adults in the room during the day and this means, lots of trips in and out of the classroom!
I really enjoyed the blog this week as usual :) It's amazing to see David so focused while he is working in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the MLK poem the kids completed was soooooo adorable! I really enjoyed the "I have a dream..." art project David brought home. I can't wait to place it in on my cubicle wall at work on Monday. Yes, we all have a dream!!
