Fall In To Learning!!!!
 |
| Part of our fall center.... |
I am looking through my pictures and am soooo dissapointed! I did not take a pic of our new Fall Into Learning bulletin board that we are SO proud of!!!!!! Ms. Krystal and I made a tree and cut out hundred of leaves and the kids and I stapled the leaves on the tree! We will be making a similar one for our BIG bulletin board, but this was in our "seasons" center and is a way for the children to make a connection to what the season is at this time. Oh well, I will add it on here on Monday. But until then you can see some of the fun and engaging things your kiddos did this week. And what a week it was!!! Super fast and we got SO much work done. I have assessed every child in all the domains I needed to, and have started portfolios and each of them. I have to say all of them were super cooperative! We continued our week having resources and ended it decorating the classroom on Friday for fall. So much fun! We also created our own AUTISM banner in the room. Many of you have emailed me and seen my little 'ending quote' of Always Unique Totally Intelligent Sometimes Mysterious....well we created this for the space above the smart board ( we did change Mysterious to Magical due to space and size reasons). The children had puzzles in their cubby colors ( every child is a color in the room to help with transition and schedules) and had to put their name in order and then apply to contact paper to preserve the final product! It was so much fun! I hope you all come see it in person because it is AWESOME! Please continue working with your kiddos at home on tracing, cutting, gluing and maintaining concentration for coloring etc. All of these help out in the classroom and keep us moving forward!! You are amazing parents all of you!

Many of you have asked about morning meeting and how you can watch it on the weekends with your kiddos...well here ya go!!!!
Class Challenge Of the Week:
Assessments!!!!
Class Goal Of the Week:
Learning to keep hands to self even when it comes to objects in the room. We are learning that decorations are there to help us learn and are not to be eaten or touched.
Parent Question of the Week:
"What can I do to help in the class?" OH I LOVE THIS QUESTION!!!! Thank you Mindy for asking!!! Parents are always welcome to come run a center or help, just please check in to the front office and let us know you're coming, surprise visitors can really disturb the class but a "welcome visitor" will be discussed in morning meeting and the children will be prepared. Understand that your child and even the others, may not act the same while you're in the room, and know that our firmness in the room is a must and we will still teach the same way we do when you're not there. We are sticklers for consistency!!!!
But never forget, we are here for your children, and we love every one of them!
Coming up on our journey?
This is the week we make apppppple sauce! So please feel free to send in any kind of apples. Also the children will be making the parents a final gift from the apple unit so apples are a welcome sight this coming week, we can never have too many!!!!
Wish List Items
Large rugs ( used is fine!)
Small cars and a car rug or play mat
Large Cars or trucks
Teacher thought of the week:
Please understand that if your child hits us, or bites us, or hits or hurts other children, that in most cases they are upset, confused, unfocused and/or not engaged. It is our job to ensure the safety of ourselves and others. Just because a child lashes out as us does NOT mean we no longer like that child. I wanted to put this in because parents voiced some concerned that we would no longer like their sons because he hit us a few times this week. That is NEVER the case. :) We love our students and we treat them as our own in the class.... OK? However, expect a phone call, because communication is key in all cases. We are not asking you to "deal" with the issue, we are merely keeping you aware of the goings on.
See you all next week when we switch into full FALL mode!!!!
“Disability is a natural part of the human experience that does not diminish the right of individuals with
developmental disabilities to enjoy the opportunity to live independently, enjoy self-determination,
make choices, contribute to society, and experience full integration and inclusion in the economic,
political, social, cultural, and educational mainstream of American society.”

Mrs, Suratt, I always get so excited when I receive the updated blog. I love to see "my David" and his classmates. I like seeing David interacting with the other boys too! My husband and I worked with David this past weekend with tracing his name and we will work with him each night so it becomes routine for him. I will be sending some apples in his book bag this week too, (no later than Thursday). David LOVES apples, he eats one daily!!
ReplyDeleteI love how hard David works for his rewards!!!!! He is seriously driven! He has so much to say inside him and we are working on how to get that out!!!
