Apples All Around!

The Apple Cart!

Here we keep plugging along.  This was a super short week as I was out on Friday, (my apologies) but we still got quite a lot done in the class!  This week we started resources and the kids got to have P.E. and Art.  They had quite a good time!!  We also started our apples theme and dissected an apple, talked about its parts, read books about apples and started quite a few projects.  The kids were really engaged and excited and participated on  many levels!  WE sorted apples by color, picked our favorite apple and made a graph and even created beautiful stained glass apples!  Apples EVERYWHERE!  We are starting a few new books this week too to continue the theme and find our way into fall.  Sorry the blog is short this week but again, short week AND I was away!  Bad combo!  This coming week is sure to be a blast, and don't forget Open House on Thursday night!

Class Challenge Of the Week:
Getting all our work done!

Class Goal Of the Week:
Still working on appropriate touching and personal space.
Parent Question of the Week:
"How do I make my child do school work at home?"   You know this is a great question.  I have my own children and I know that it can be time consuming to try and sit down and "make" your child to do homework.  Children with autism need structure and routine and genuinely love to please us for the most part.  I make sure to keep praising in the classroom and maybe you can try this at home.  Award your child after every step they complete of a paper I may send home.  If he traces and A award him, if he holds the pencil correctly, award him.  We need to build their self confidence and their capabilities as well as autonomy.  By doing work at home we are proving to your child we are a united front and that  we are all on the same page! :)  Until next weekend!  Happy Apples!
Coming up on our journey?

Apppppple sauce! And Fall decorating.  I will be doing individual assessments as well this week :)

  1. Mrs. Suratt, David seemed more engaged in the blog last week. I really liked the hat picture! I apologize for his behavior last Thursday. I noticed he likes to glue. Do you recommend any type of glue projects to do at home? Also, how do you get him to sit long enough to complete his school assignments? Thanks again for everything and for going above and beyond as my son's teacher!!
